It is good that Christians say amen in church when the preacher is preaching or when somebody is testifying.
However in some churches this act is strongly discouraged as some people view this as an act of confusion and making some people fail to hear what the preacher is preaching.
End time believers lets share ideas on 'AMEN Saying in CHURCHES.
I personally do not believe that saying "Amen" in the church when a minister is preaching should be discouraged. Usually saying or shouting Amen to the preaching of minister in the church is somehow edifying to me. However, unique and extreme situations must also be addressed in a unique and extreme way! :)
I have seen some people always shout "Amen" to the minister's preaching. But it appears that they are only for attracting the attention of the congregation to themselves and n ot to the preaching. They are really nuisance in the church instead of intruments for edification.
Now consider this.
Acts 16:16-18 16And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
Now may I ask, what's wrong with saying "These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation." in refering to Paul and his companions? We know that the damsel was only declaring the truth. But why Paul was grieved and rebuke the spirit? It is because what the damsel said, though the truth, became a nuisance!
We should watch out for the motive and the spirit behind the utterance or shouting of Amen. If it is of God, it would DIRECT our attention to the preaching of the Word. But if it is of the enemy, it would DISTRACT us from the preaching of the Word and would direct us to someone or something else!
Thus, I believe it is within the authority of the local church to regulate nuisance actuations in the congregations.
Shallom brother andrew!
what an honour to have a reply from the saint.
I agree with you that saying amen in church its not a bad idea even the prophet once reccommended this.
However as you have put it that for some people its meaningless i.e the pastor saying..'you may get sitted'...you will find a brother jumping hallelujah! praise the Lord!...and one wonders what is praise the Lord for?...i think amen should only come in when a word has really touched your heart.
Brother I have one question......suppose everybit of preaching is touching your heart and is 100% the true word of God..is it good to continuosly say Amen!..hallelujah!praise the Lord?
Anyway i wish you a nice church service tommorrow the 3rd of may 2009.
God bless you.
Regards,
Brother Prince.
Way back in my teenage days where internet wasn't yet invented, it would be impossible to fellowship with a saint thousands of miles away. Back then everything was limited yet it was so simple. But now, through the inventions of science and advancement of civilization (though both are the makings of the devil), our God has found a way to make everything work together for our good. (God using the very weapon of the enemy to destroy him, e.g. David slew Goliath with Goliath's own sword!) Now we could fellowship with each other through this site!
Brother, I am also privileged to greet you in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ. May God's grace be upon you continually.
Now concerning your question if it is good to continuously say Amen in the church when a person is touched every bit of the minister's preaching, I have my humble opinion on it. Our God is not a God of confusion but a God of order. I believe if the Holy Spirit has touched a certain individual by the minister's preaching, the same Spirit would guide and teach him/her what to do. The same Spirit would restrain his/her mouth in uttering or shouting Amen when his/her utterance or shouting becomes a distraction to the preaching. The same Spirit would open his/her mouth to say or even shout Amen when it would edify the church.
Concerning those who have another motive or spirit, their saying or shouting Amen would surely be intended to distract the saints' attention from the preaching. "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."John 10:10 Thus, the local church has every right to set things in order when this happens.
Shallom brother Andrew!
I have an oppoturnity to call you brother because i have love for you.
The prophet said that you only say brother to someone you love, that is why i call you brother.
You know what? our Lord will always fight the battle for us,coz frankly speaking we can not manage own our own,we are graced to be his bride in this evil age, which the bible compares it to sodom and gommorah,so that it more reason we should shout HALLELUJAH!!AMEN! we are the chosen few.
Am so sorry to have taken long before i reply..that is because the devil tried to torment me with Body pains..however am glad since the Lord purchased my healing on the cross..I am healed. You know,we have authority to chase the demons away....I used THUS SAYS THE LORD..and the dvil went away.
I tell you brothe,we have authority.
I now use my God given authority to say to you that...GOD BLESS YOU!..looking forward to hearing from you.
I have loved reading all these posts here on AMEN saying in church. As we all know, Amen means SO BE IT. The Prophet himself used it in his preaching, when he felt touched and the annoiting led hom to say Amen or "OH MY!" Thats when the annoiting came down. So, i believe its good to say AMEN , it also annoits the preacher and helps a brother to be alert. The spirit of slumber cant come there. God bless you
Bro.Bus
God bless you. First of all Amen mean "so be it" the prophet said so and if you notice in the Bible at the end of the books written by the prophets it mostly ended with an "amen". When the pastor is preaching the word of God we say amen to identify that what he is saying is the truth, so we should and must say amen to the word of God. I only know the Roman Catholic don't say amen and we all know where the Roman catholic stands. So that's my view on saying " Amen in church".
God bless you Brother David Benjamin!
I am happy this time to write to you the very bride of christ.
I apologize for coming to this site to reply late...but i hope you will understand.
I surely would like to agree with you tha t saying AMEN is another tool of making people come closer to God..coz you can not say AMEN to the words which you cannot Live their life.
You have spoken like David in the bible...it is my prayer that the Lord will use the little stone in your catalput to destroy the today's Goliath.
God bless you and continue blessing us at this site.
Looking forward from you.
Once again God bless.
God bless you RICHLY sister Roshelle Roberts!
I am happy this time to write to you the very bride of christ.
I apologize for coming to this site to reply late...but i hope you will understand.
I am extremely delighted to get a reply and a comment from a sister...I feel like shouting HALLELUJAH so that i can hear you say AMEN BROTHER....ha ha ha
You know its good once again to have sisters being the amen corners of the church because thats one of the ways they can speak in church.
And to comment on amen being the marking end of some of the books in the bible....i would very much agree that YES amen means means so be it...and again amen is Jesus because he once proclaimed to say'I am the rose of shallon the I am that Iam the AMEN.
So you see though some people speak against the amen but it should not be the case...I AM THE AMEN...THUS SAID JESUS!!!
I pray that your pot and basket will not go empty.
God bless you and be the member of this discussion.
One again God bless you.
God bless you Brother Busobozi Talemwa Frank!
I am happy this time to write to you the very bride of christ.
I apologize for coming to this site to reply late...but i hope you will understand.
It is an honour today to meet you as well as to receive a comment from you.
It is very much true and touching what you said that AMEN! casts away slumbering...OH MY!
The devil uses sleeping and slumbering to make the church not to listen to the preacher....but we thank God that he gave us the revelation of AMEN so that we can chase him away and say amen to encourage and bring anointing to the preacher.
OH! Brother God bless you mightly.
May you be the AMEN corner in the church this coming sunday and all sundays.
Once again God Bless you.
